Northside Social
205 Park Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia
Located at 205 Park Avenue in Falls Church, Northside Social is a stunning example of adaptive reuse, blending history with modern functionality. BCN undertook the renovation and restoration of this dilapidated yet historically significant structure, working closely with the City of Falls Church to preserve its character while transforming it into a vibrant community gathering space.
The historic building, known as the Cloverdale House, dates back to the late 18th century and is one of the city's oldest surviving structures. Originally located on West Broad Street, it was later moved to its current location on Park Avenue. Over the years, the Cloverdale House has served various roles. Notably, it functioned as the Blue and Gray Post of the American Legion, serving as a gathering place for veterans and community members.
In 2018, the building underwent a significant transformation when it was renovated and developed by BCN as the second location for Northside Social, a popular neighborhood café, wine bar, bakery, and coffeehouse co-owned by the Normile’s. The renovation preserved many of the building's historic elements, such as reclaimed walnut-hued wood and a framed 48-star U.S. flag from its American Legion days.
As the owner and developer, BCN’s commitment to excellence was recognized with the Northern Virginia Chapter of NAIOP Award of Merit for Adaptive Reuse in 2018 and this Northside Social location opened in 2018. See more at https://www.northsidesocialva.com/location/falls-church/
